June is National Adopt-a-Cat Month. So what better time to introduce our newest family member?

Pete and I adopted Kitty Von Bora, a.k.a. Fluff Muffin, in April from The Cats’ Pyjamas Cat Cafe (link HERE) which features adoptable cats from our community’s Animal Protective League.

Here’s a photo of Ms. Kitty taken at the cat cafe just before we adopted her.

She joined Sir Bryce, a.k.a. Scamperpuss, whom we adopted from the Cats’ Pyjamas just before Christmas in 2024. This photo was also taken at the cat cafe.

Ms. Kitty took ownership of the house as soon as we brought her home. Here she is, rolling over and playing cute.

Brycie needed quite a bit more adjustment time when we first brought him home. (He spent the first three months hiding in a closet in Pete’s office.) But he gradually adjusted and is now a little cuddle bear. Here he is, chilling in the sunroom.

What is it about cats and boxes?!? I was about to put this box in the basement a couple of months ago, but before I could get around to it, Ms. Kitty claimed the box, so it is still sitting on a chair in the kitchen. Which is now her chair, by the way.

Of course, that sweet pose in the photo above often turns out to be a trap. Yes, that’s Pete’s hand she’s chomping on here.

Did I mention our fur babies can be a bit on the ornery side? I’m sure the squirrel on the deck is glad a glass window separates him from our cute little apex predator.

Here’s Ms. Kitty again, the queen of all she surveys. She’s got her own chair in the sunroom as well as in the kitchen.

Meanwhile, Brycie still kind of likes Pete’s closet. But he prefers sitting atop a shelf full of t-shirts rather than hiding in a box in a dark corner.

Ms. Kitty loves to sit on the backs of our office chairs. Here she is, monitoring Pete as he sits at his computer.

Fortunately our sweet little floofs get along famously. They’re even willing to share a shaft of sunlight in our sunroom. As you might have guessed from the previous photos, this seems to be their favorite room in the house.

Sadly, the wonderful place that provided the original home for our rescue kitties is in need of rescue itself right now. Earlier this month, a tornado ripped through our community and destroyed both the Animal Protective League’s shelter and clinic buildings.. (Thankfully the staff and ALL the animals got out safely!)

Our community has stepped up to provide foster care for the cats and dogs and local businesses have hosted a multitude of fundraisers. However. APL continues to welcome donations (link HERE). Since six of the seven kitties we’ve adopted during the 40 years we’ve been married originally came from APL, we think it’s a great cause.
