Over the years, I’ve learned a fairly fool-proof way to address those pesky doubts about God’s existence that creep up from time to time: Step outside and immerse myself in nature.
Nature’s majesty continually reminds me there is an ultimate Creator. As I’ve said numerous times, I find it almost impossible to deny God’s existence when I’m outdoors with the evidence all around me.
Sometimes I find evidence of God in the spectacular.
An amazing sunset.

Brilliant fall colors.

Blooming trees.

Showy flowers.

A bare tree against a pure blue sky.

Beautiful horses against a backdrop of North Carolina mountains.

Sometimes I find the best evidence of God in my own backyard.
Squirrels helping themselves to some birdseed. (Who decreed it’s just for birds??)

A bird couple tending their nest in early spring.

A cute little chipmunk enjoying some spring flowers. (This chipmunk thinks enjoying flowers means eating them rather than looking at them. LOL.)

Our resident hawk. (Small mammals may not be so glad to see this guy, but Pete and I think he’s magnificent!)

Sometimes I find evidence of God in the small but exquisite things.
A perfect rose.

A single brilliant leaf that has fallen to the ground.

Our awesome pollinators busily doing God’s work of helping produce food for the world.

I don’t know about anyone else, but I love my dandelions.

Sometimes I find evidence of God in the unexpected.
A brilliant flash of red in the midst of a bleak midwinter backyard scene.

The first crocuses of spring.

A weed that’s actually pretty.

A very friendly goose at our local park.

A photobombing cat overlooking the city of Jerusalem.

The Bible offers a solid basis for finding evidence of God in nature.
In Romans 1:20, we read, “For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.”
Job 12:7-9 suggests we can learn about God from nature: “But ask the animals, and they will teach you, the birds of the air, and they will tell you; ask the plants of the earth, and they will teach you, and the fish of the sea will declare to you. Who among all these does not know that the hand of the Lord has done this?”
And Genesis 1:25 reminds us that it is all good: “God made the wild animals according to their kinds, the livestock according to their kinds, and all the creatures that move along the ground according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good.”
I know I commented on this once, but I’m curious. I’ve been wanting to plant some crocuses in our flower bed. When is the right time to plant them, and would they grow in Texas? I know they are bulbs, right?

I usually plant them in the fall. However, I wrap chicken wire mesh around them to keep the chipmunks or squirrels from digging them up and eating them. They LOVE crocus bulbs, as I learned a few years ago when I spent a couple of hours planting the bulbs only to discover I had spent a couple of hours feeding critters. They managed to dig up and eat every single bulb. LOL

Thank you. I will watch out for the squirrels if I plant some.

Love your photos. I find God in nature, as well. I see His care for all living things, and the intricate way He has arranged for them to work together. I am awed by the beauty everywhere which reflect God’s own. And I am humbled that the same God who made the stars would take account of man.

I’ve always loved the idea of a God who cares for the sparrow.

The same G-d that cares for the sparrows cares for us! Astounding! What a wondrous G-d we serve! He loves! What other god can do that?

Hi Debi Sue! The pictures and your thoughts about our Creator and His creation are beautiful and moving!
I sporadically follow a blogger in the northwest who has quite a few followers who would never darken the URL of my own blog. I noted one atheist who posited that his unfailing put-down for believers is that they can’t present any evidence for God or His existence. You presented plenty of beautiful evidence here.
Toward the end of July, I posted one called “Substance” looking at Hebrews 11:1 & 3. Seems no amount of “evidence” will suffice for one who has made up his mind to deny all evidence. What a shame to be (willfully) blind to the Holy Spirit, and all the treasures and beauties He reveals.

I’ve always liked the passage in Job that says even the animals know there is a Creator.

I like dandelion’s, too, but my husband doesn’t. He decapitates them with the lawn mower. But they grow back. Haha!!!

Your post made me think of my cat and how grateful I am God created cats. My whole-body calms down when she sleeps on my lap and purrs. I am grateful that God created cats to purr. Last evening we had the most beautiful sundown, it was a touch of heaven to my soul. I am grateful for the season, especially the fall. Winters are really hard in northern Mn. but I have even learned to be grateful for them. It pays to prepare for each season so one can enjoy it. The beauty of earth speaks of a loving God who knew we would need all the seasons and their beauty. We have lived in several states, southern Ill., Mo., Ky., Nevada, California, and now northern Mn., and in all of them God planted beauty that shouts of Him. One thing I have learned through the years if my heart is right with God I see beauty brighter, but when I let anger, resentment and bitterness rule my heart God’s beauty takes on a dull look. Thank you for a post that stirred my heart, blessings.

Fabulous photos! A magnificent message!! I agree that it’s impossible not to see G-d while looking to His majestic creation.
I also find it impossible to believe that of all of the pictures you’ve shared that some random cosmic explosion that made all of them possible.
The Law of Entropy proves this.
Thanks for sharing!

Yes, it’s way more of an intellectual stretch to think all of this happened by some kind of random chance.

Excellent post, Debi Sue. All those great pictures show massive amounts of otherwise very clear evidence of an extremely creative and loving God. It is sad that the Lord’s beautiful work is often never recognized or appreciated. This shows how far humanity has fallen. Blessings to you
